Celebrating 20 Years of Eleven Plus Exams
Our site, elevenplusexams.co.uk, was founded in August 2004 along with our 11 Plus Exams Forum, the nation’s most trusted, free, impartial source of 11+ advice.
We’re looking back on 20 years of relationships with our customers, students, staff and community members and celebrating being a part of thousands of 11+ journeys as we have grown and evolved over the years.
Our Story
Eleven Plus Exams founder, Ilesh Kotecha, first launched elevenplusexams.co.uk to help his own son achieve his dream of attending a highly-regarded north London grammar school. Ilesh established an online learning platform and a forum for his son to access and communicate with him when not at home.
There were some unintended consequences to the materials published by him online. By the time his son had passed his exam, thousands of parents had begun utilising some of the same resources that his son had used, and were beginning to actively participate on the discussion forum.
Volunteer moderators came forward to help with the sheer number of posts that resulted from the active discussions on the forum and to this day many of these same moderators continue to offer their support to other parents embarking on their own 11+ journeys.
The free forum, which at first had solely been used by father and son to debate solutions to 11+ questions, has now become a vibrant discussion group.
Where We Are Today
Eleven Plus Exams and its resources and services were all born from the interest, discussions and needs of our forum. Since our beginnings our company has grown considerably.
We are incredibly proud to have published over 70 book titles, to now offer our tuition services to over 700 students, to provide 11+ mock exams for thousands of students across the country and to now be one of the UK’s largest sites for all things 11+.
The 11 Plus Exams Forum now hosts more than 750,000 posts contributed by over 35,000 members.
Our latest digital resource for 11+ preparation, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), features hundreds of explanatory videos, practice exams and thousands of practice questions, and also hosts our competitive online tuition courses.
These resources were voted the UK’s favourite in the 2024 National Tutoring Awards.
Our goal has always been to treat each child as our own, and to provide everything needed for a successful outcome in their education journey.
